This war memorial is a timber honour roll for the Second World War. It lists 33 members of the Stanford Merthyr Public School community who served, including three servicewomen. The names are expertly printed on the board in gold, across two columns. The list is in alphabetical order, which indicates the roll was created after the war; however, its origins are not known. The board has a simple but elegant design, featuring three decorative timber posts. Each post is made up of several pieces of timber of varying lengths, which have been attached in such a way as to create a stepped top. This technique gives the board an Art Deco style. The board is finished with a curved base piece, containing the years of the war printed in gold. The roll is located inside the school. Access to it is by appointment/tour.
