The memorial consists of a plaque attached to a rock, mounted on a concrete pad. It was established in 2012 by the Manning Valley Sub-Branch of the National Servicemen's Association, in honour of those who have served. In November 1987, a National Servicemen's Association was formed in Toowoomba, Queensland. A NSW State Branch was formed in Sydney in September 1995. A number of Sub-Branches were then formed throughout the state, including Manning Valley. From the The National Servicemen's Association of Australia, New South Wales Branch Inc website: These Sub-Branches have a commitment to help the community, encourage fellowship between members and offer assistance and guidance on matters that affect the welfare of all NASHOS regardless of their membership. Historical information about the National Service Scheme can be found on the Australian War Memorial's National Service Scheme webpage.
