This memorial tablet commemorating the death of Private Charles Gilbert Russell is located in the Holy Trinity Church in Glen Innes. It is a fine marble tablet with the inscription in black lettering. Members of the church Sunday School erected the memorial tablet in April 1919. Russell was Born in Guyra, NSW. As a member of the Church of England and a single coachsmith of Glen Innes, he enlisted as a private on 18 January 1916 in the 36th Battalion. He was killed in action in France on 4 April 1918 with no known grave. His name is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux in France. The Glen Innes Examiner, 18 April 1918 reported he was killed in action and was a member of the Church of England Sunday School.
