The memorial consists of a display section within the Bowraville Folk Museum, featuring military items from the district. The section was dedicated in honour of the Australian Armed Forces. It was officially opened by Mr G.E. 'Rusty' Priest, NSW State President RSL of Australia, on 3 February 1996. The museum itself was opened on 13 December 1970. The original building was a department store, and during the Second World War it was the headquarters of the Voluntary Defence Corps. Access to the memorial is restricted by the opening times of the museum.
