This war memorial is a bushrock, with a bronze plaque attached. It is dedicated to Flight Lieutenants Jeremy McNess and Mark Cairn-Cowan of the Royal Australian Air Force (R.A.A.F.). They were killed when their F-111 crashed on the evening of 13 September 1993. They were undertaking a simulated attack on the former Guyra meatwork's building and crashed in a paddock four kilometres west of Guyra. The memorial was unveiled on 16 May 2000 by Air Marshall E. J. McCormack, Chief of Air Force. On the day, the R.A.A.F. provided a guard of honour and an F-111 fly-past. The memorial is located in the garden outside the Guyra office of the Armidale Regional Council. A second plaque is located on a property off Neeworra Road, Guyra. Both were organised by the former Guyra Shire Council.
