The Freedom Wall is a commemoration wall situated in the Peace Grove, a grassed area surrounded by trees. One of the trees was propagated from the Lone Pine of Gallipoli. The wall contains approximately 113 plaques, with one missing. Each individual plaque has been placed by local families, individuals, clubs and organisations in honour of those local men and women who fought and served for our freedom. Anyone who lives or resided in the Shellharbour local government area was eligible to purchase a plaque. The plaque order form information and the unveiling were reported in the local newspaper, the Lake Times on 1 November 1995 and 15 November 1995. There is seating nearby to enable reflection of the significance of this commemoration to the service men and women of the City. The Freedom Wall is part of the Australia Remembers 50th Anniversary of the Second World War program. The memorial was relocated to Benaud Crescent and was rededicated on 11 November 2015.
