The Beaulieu Memorial Theatre was officially opened by Mr Ray Chappell for the Inverell Theatre Company on Saturday 21 June 1997. It was originally built in 1932 as the Beaulieu Soldiers' Memorial Hall. A brief history In June 1921 the Bannockburn Shire Council considered a request for a site to house a war trophy allotted to the centre by the government. The shire engineer reported the land was part of a travelling stock route, and as it was crown land the request was forwarded to the District Surveyor. At the Inverell Pasture Board Meeting held in August 1921, the Stock Inspector moved the one acre site for the Beaulieu Soldiers' Memorial Hall and Church be approved. Over the next decade, the hall committee raised funds for construction of the hall. It was to meet the needs of the community for church services, meetings, Sunday school, concerts and dances. In May 1932, the Inverell architect J.F. O'Connor called for tenders for the construction work. The hall was later built by Inverell builder Bob Smith. It was thirty feet wide and included a supper room. At a later stage, it was proposed by the committee to line the hall and construct a stage and anteroom. The hall was officially opened by O'Connor, Patron of the Inverell Branch of the Returned Soldiers and Sailors League on 14 September 1932. At the same ceremony, a First World War honour roll was unveiled and a captured machine gun was installed.
