This war memorial is a pressed copper honour roll for the First World War. The panel is highly decorated, featuring the rays of the rising sun above a large laurel wreath in the centre, which surrounds the dedication. At the bottom of the panel is a ribbon banner, containing the initials M.U.I.O.O.F., which stand for the Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows. The names of nine members of the Gleniffer lodge of the Order are listed on the left-hand side of the panel. They are inscribed on a smaller piece of metal of a different type that has been attached to the memorial. The roll was made by the Wunderlich Company of Sydney. This well-known manufacturer made many metal rolls following the war and they can be found throughout NSW. As with some of their memorials, the end year of the war is not included on the roll. The roll was unveiled at the Gleniffer School of Arts on 15 May 1918. The event was reported in the Daily Examiner on 24 May. Brother D. Johnston acted as chairman and Mrs McFadyen performed the unveiling. In his speech, Brother Johnston said: The honor roll was not in any way in payment for their services, but as a slight memento to show them that the members of the lodge had not forgotten them, and also for future generations to look upon. Gleniffer is a rural community, 12 kilometres northwest of Bellingen, NSW. The School of Arts, also known as the Gleniffer Hall, was built in 1908 and the timber building still survives. The roll remains on site and is available to view when the hall is open to the public. Also on display is the Gleniffer First World War Honour Roll, which includes some of the names on the lodge roll.
