This listing describes two roadways in Port Macquarie that have been named in honour of Major Alban Charles Elliot, for both his military service and his community service. The roads are Alban Place and Elliot Way. A commemorative plaque is located in Stewart Street on the headland at Port Macquarie Park Beach. The plaque was dedicated in March 2020 and at the bottom it has the emblems for the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces and the Port Macquarie Hastings Council. Alban Charles Elliot was born at Waterville, England on 7 June 1892. As a single solicitor from Eastwood, NSW aged 23 years, he enlisted in the A.I.F. on 6 September 1916 as a Second Lieutenant in the 53rd Battalion. His unit embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A44 Vestalia on 11 July 1916. He was recommended for a Military Medal on 4 October 1917 and was Mentioned in Despatches on 5 October 1918. He also received a Military Cross for bravery on the Western Front. He enlisted in the Australian Army on 20 January 1941 from Lindfield, Sydney. His next of kin was Fanny Elliot. He was discharged as a Major from the Head Quarters NSW L of C Area on 10 December 1944.
