Walcha Ex-Services Memorial Club

The Walcha Ex-Services Memorial Club is a two storey building, built predominately of brick. It was established in the 1940s as a memorial to those who had served Australia in times of conflict. The Walcha News (25 June 2019) states: Originally opened to honour the ex-servicemen and women that fought in the war and for the Walcha community to have a social gathering place, the Walcha Ex-Services Memorial Club first opened its doors in 1946 with Mr M.A Crawford as the president. Adjoined to the back of the club is an older building from the 1870s. This historical site has been described by Walcha Council as follows: The older portion of this building was constructed by Alexander Mitchell purposely for the Commercial Banking Company of Sydney (now the NAB). It later became the home of the Ewing Family and was acquired by the Walcha sub branch of the RSL in the latter half of 1947. The building was later extended on the northern and eastern sides to provide additional facilities. Access inside the club is restricted to its opening hours.
