The memorial is a bushrock with two plaques attached to the front face. The top plaque commemorates South East Asian conflicts during 1950–66 and the bottom plaque commemorates the Korean and Vietnam Wars. The memorial is located on the median strip on High Street, next to the Bowraville War Memorial. Commemorative services take place on site. Personnel from the Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and the Australian Regular Army served for the three years of the Korean War. Australia became involved in the Vietnam War when the Australian Army Training Team commenced duty in July and August 1962. The Australians ceased duty on 11 January 1973. Almost 60,000 Australians served in the Army, Navy and Air Force; 521 died and over 3,000 were wounded.
