This substantial timber honour roll for the First World War is located at the west entrance of St Mary's Anglican Church in Maitland, NSW. The names of those who served are listed across five vertical panels. The memorial was designed by W. H. Pender of Maitland in December 1924, and referred to as a 'Memorial Screen'. Two sets of plans are located in the Cultural Collections on level 2 of the Auchmuty Library at the University of Newcastle. Outside the church, there is a Wall of Remembrance, which has individual names plates for veterans attached to it. Ashes can also be interred in the wall. Notes on veteran names: No records with a link to the Maitland area can be found deceased veterans W F Carson or F P Collier. Their status codes have been given as killed in action (KIA), as that is what is indicated by the memorial. All other status codes are taken from information in the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission database, and the National Archives of Australia.
