The memorial gate is constructed of two brick columns, joined at the top by a wrought iron arch containing the dedication. Each pillar bears a Latin cross on the front face. The gate serves as an entrance to the Casino Lawn Cemetery. On 28 November 2012, the Casino RSL Sub-Branch was awarded a 'Saluting Their Service' grant to restore and upgrade the memorial. The cemetery is administered by the Richmond Valley Council. It was consecrated and dedicated in 1961.
