A monument of local polished grey granite on a sandstone block, 5 feet square, set in a concrete foundation. The column is surmounted by a white marble statue of a First World War soldier standing at ease and holding a rifle. The figure was carved in Italy from Carrara marble. The statue faces west and is supported from behind by a marble representation of a tree trunk. The monument is in an island at the intersection of two roads and is flanked by bollards. The memorial is located directly opposite the Court House and adjacent to Ryrie Park.
