Mitchell Park Memorial Gates, Merewether

The Mitchell Park Memorial Gates in Merewether, NSW, consist of four pillars, joined with ornamental metal gates. The pillars are faced with honour rolls and tablets. The two centre pillars are surmounted by marble busts. A solider is on the left and a sailor is on the right. The dates for the First World War are inscribed at the bottom of the two outer pillars. They are given as 1914 and 1919.  The memorial is located at the Mitchell Street entrance to the park, directly opposite Robert Street.
