The small community of Utungun recognises and commemorates the men and women from the area who have served their country during war in two distinct ways. The first is a wooden roll of honour board which is hung inside the Utungun Community Hall. This honour roll records the names of 66 veterans from the area who have served during the First World War, Second World War and in Post Second World War conflicts. The second form of commemoration is a memorial garden which includes a row of three trees located next to the flag pole outside the hall. Each tree is dedicated to one of the three men from the area who have died on active service. Each tree has a white cross in front of it with the soldier's name written on it. There is also a brass plaque in the garden which recognises the planting of the trees in their memory.
