The memorial is an avenue of 50 liquid amber trees on the New England Highway, also known as Tenterfield Street, on the northern side of the village. The members of the local RSL decided to plant the trees as a memorial for those soldiers from Deepwater and district who served in the Second World War. Messrs Bezzant Bros, provided timber for the tree guards and a working bee of RSL members headed by President Mr. I.A. McIntosh took place in July 1954 to complete the planting.
