The memorial is a polished timber honour roll that commemorates ex-pupils from Long Ridge School who enlisted in the Second World War. The rural district of Long Ridge is located near Purlewaugh, 26 kilometres east of Coonabarabran. The Long Ridge School was established as a Provisional School from May 1920 to July 1956 and a Public School from August 1956 to December 1970. The honour roll is topped with a simple pediment and is set within a wooden frame. The names of 48 service personnel are written in gold lettering and listed in five columns on the board. The names are also listed within six separate services areas: the Australian Infantry Force, Royal Australian Air Force, Australian Women's Army Service, Women's Auxiliary Air Force, Air Cadets and Munitions. A distinctive blue painted banner is scrolled above the veterans' names. The Long Ridge School Honour Roll was unveiled in the school and moved after the school closed. The memorial is now located in the Purlewaugh Hall.
