This war memorial is a white marble obelisk, standing on a decorative white marble pedestal. The whole is mounted on a simple concrete base, with a bronze plaque attached to its front face. The memorial is in memory of Private William Charles Woods, who was killed in action in the First World War. He was buried in the Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery in Belgium (Plot 20, Row G, Grave No. 15A). A small portrait of William is incorporated into the obelisk. This private monument was erected in 1919 by residents of Euroka, a town located near Kempsey on the Mid North Coast of NSW. It was unveiled at the former Euroka School on 5 November the same year. The dedication states William was an ex-pupil of the school. In 1995, the memorial was restored and relocated to the Euroka Cemetery. The details of the move are recorded on the plaque attached to the base. Note: the inscription on the pedestal incorrectly spells William's surname as 'Wood'.
