Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Kyogle, NSW, was built in honour of those who served in the First and Second World Wars. It has a striking front facade, with a high gable roof and a large Latin cross attached above the front entrance doors. Set into a wall in the front foyer are the dedication and foundation stones. The foundation stone was laid on 5 August 1956 and the opening ceremony and blessing took place around a year later on 5 May 1957. Following the Second World War, a number of memorial churches were constructed by the Roman Catholic Church in various areas of NSW, including the North Coast and New England Regions. Other examples include the Sacred Heart Memorial Church in Dorrigo, Uralla Catholic Church, and St Anthony's Memorial Catholic Church, Kingscliff. Access inside Our Lady of Sorrows is restricted to its opening hours.
