This war memorial is a marble honour roll, inscribed with the names of those who served from the Second World War. The plaque was originally located in Gangat Hall but was later moved to the Gloucester History Museum for display when the hall was demolished. Gangat was a small rural community located near Gloucester. The Gangat School was opened as a Provisional School in May 1931 and became a Public School in January 1938. It closed in December 1967. E.H. Short, secretary of the Gangat Parents and Citizens' Association, advertised a Public Meeting to be held on 21 August 1946 in The Gloucester Advocate on 16 August. All were invited to be present to determine what type of of honour roll will be created for the district.
