This war memorial is a concrete walkway, established by Inverell Shire Council in honour of those who served in the Second World War. It is approximately 5 kilometres long and runs along the Macintyre River, from Kamilaroi Oval to Lake Inverell Reserve. It passes through several public spaces, including Campbell Park, and goes past the Scout Hall adjacent to Sinclair Park. Information provided by Inverell Shire Council states the physical pathway along the river was already in place before 1995. At a Council meeting in June 1995, it was resolved "that the bicycle/footway through Campbell Park be named 'WWII Remembrance Way' and further that the General Manager hold discussions with the RSL to develop an ongoing program of upgrading the walkway with 'reading stations' and the like to maintain the 'Remembrance Way' theme."
