Constructed in 1924 this memorial is a major landmark and one of Queensland's few unpainted war memorials. Made of Ulam marble it has a life-sized statue of an Australian Infantry soldier standing at ease at the top of a tall obelisk. The obelisk has a leaded AIF badge and the dates of the war on the front base. The monument rests on a base of rock-faced grey granite. It is surrounded by sandstone kerbing and corner posts, then by granite corner posts linked by double metal rails. There is a metal flagstaff at the south-west corner of the enclosure.
