The main school war memorial takes the form of an Honour Board, listing the names of the women who served in the Australian Forces in two World Wars 1914–1918 and 1939–1945. Individuals listed were either past students or past staff of the School. The board is surmounted by the Old Girls Association Badge, and the insignia of the branches of the Australian Forces. The 116 names are inscribed with gold lettering and divided into four columns, categorised by conflict and service. Additional Information The Honour Board was erected in 1949 and was a gift of the School's Old Girls Association, and dedicated to the women who served in both Wars. The design is by Architect, Mr G A Blackburne (BGS), and work done by Messrs Harvey Broe. The gift marked the Jubilee Year (50th) of the founding of the Association and was the result of much fundraising within the School Community. The War Memorial Honour Board was unveiled by the Chairman of Trustees to the Brisbane Girls Grammar School Mr G. Grenning, 7 May 1949. (Source: Brisbane Girls Grammar School www.bggs.qld.edu.au)
