The column with orb and cross on a white stepped base is situated on the Bruce Highway, and is surrounded by a white wooden fence. A plaque paying tribute to those who participated in South East Asian campaigns was unveiled 25 April 1989 Additional Information Mason was Melrose and Fenwick of Townsville. The second plaque was unveiled by G Stenhouse, Deputy Commissioner, Department of Veteran Affairs. Additional plaques were added in May 1992, May 1993, and in May 1994 including an Australian Red Cross Avenue plaque and a Girl Guides plaque honouring their families who were involved in wars.
