The draped obelisk with crossed rifles stands on a typical Petrie base near the waterfront, beside the main highway at the Kirra end of Marine Parade. The memorial is on a concrete base, set into the curve of colourful garden beds. Additional Information This memorial has outstanding significance as an example of the work of A L Petrie and Son, Brisbane. This is one of four war memorials in Coolangatta, the others being the WWII memorial in Goodwin Park, the clock memorial on Marine Parade and the Centaur Memorial at Point Danger.
