White painted cairn set atop rocks from the original former RSL Kitchener memorial at Wynnum, which form the base. Unveiled by Hon G.F.R. Nicklin on 11 March 1967, as a tribute to individuals of Stradbroke Island, including the many Indigenous locals who enlisted in all conflicts. The Aboriginal flag is flown alongside the Australian flag at remembrance services. The 5 bronze plaques attached to the marker commemorate the aspects of the military services.
