A concrete monument with a cross atop a tall pedestal with a three stepped square base. A wreath is drapped over tho top of the cross. The pedestal, which is capped by a wide cornice, has three granite plates, listing the names of 89 local servicemen who fought in the Great War. Of the names listed 18 Killed in Action; 5 died of illness; 1 died of wounds (awarded a Military Cross). The other two plaques list, in alphabetical order, the names of 66 servicemen who enlisted and served in the Great War. The monument stands behind the Eton WWII Memorial Gates erected at the corner entrance of the park. Additional Information The monument was constructed by Melrose and Fenwick Ltd, Monumental Works and Wrought Iron Railing factory from Townsville.
