Set on a typical Petrie base, the Victorian grey granite obelisk is topped by a globe with a map of Australia outlined in gold, and ANZAC written across the map in gold. There is a gold laurel wreath near the top of the obelisk. Badges of the Royal Australian Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and Army are on sides of the white painted base. A low sandstone fence surrounds the monument, with steps set in the front. Three flagpoles are to the right of the memorial, set behind the Pavilion at the end of the driveway into Graceville Memorial Park. It was unveiled on 26 November 1920 by a blind and maimed returned soldier, Lieutenant Little of Corinda, Brisbane. Mason was A L Petrie and Son. Additional Information This memorial has outstanding significance: as an unusual example of the work of A L Petrie & Son; as a World War I war memorial unveiled by a blind and maimed returned soldier, rather than a Governor or a politician.
