The Rosewood Honour Board is a 'Wunderlich' style copper and timber board with brass plaques listing the names of 270 district soldiers from fifteen former surrounding shires, who served their country proudly during WWI. The Roll of Honour has notations under the names indicating those who: were Killed in Action (K); Died of Wounds (DW); Died of Illness (DI); were Invalided Home (IH); or were Wounded (W). Additional Information One of the towns on the honour board is called Townshend which is now the town of Marburg. The name was changed from Marburg during the First World War as it sounded too German. The RSL Memorial Hall has been in Rosewood since 1954, originally situated in William Street where it was built by returned World War II diggers using mainly voluntary labour. The hall was shifted to its present location, at the entrance to the Anzac Park sporting fields, in Mill Street in 1979 and is used by the RSL for ceremonial occasions such as ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day, as well as by locals for weddings, dances, social gatherings, festivals, school functions, concerts, meetings, sporting events and much more.
