Southport War Memorial (Digger)

The life-sized digger with head bowed and arms reversed stands on an unusual Petrie base. The square stone monument is on a stepped base. Additional Information It is noted that the 17 names under Killed on the memorial and the 17 names on the Roll of Honour on the Anzac Memorial Gate are meant to honour the same men, but there are variations in the initials and in the surname spellings. Mason for digger and gates was A L Petrie and Son.
