St Andrew's Presbyterian Church 1914-19 Honour Roll 3

The third of four similar Honour Boards can be seen on a wall in the Merrington Memorial Peace Chapel within the church. The Board is constructed of maple and silky oak and the impressive facade lists the names of 52 individuals from the congregation who served and in some cases died during the Great War 1914-1919. The Board exhibits gold, blue and black painted text, with a banner arrangement for the title at the top followed by the names listed in two equal columns. Ranks are shown for som the names are in rank order. The fate of those who died or were wounded is designated to the left of their names and includes 7 killed in action, 5 who died of wounds and 2 wounded in action. The list also included members who served in other Commonwealth Forces during the war. Additional Information The Latin words and emblem above the Board were used widely by the Presbyterian Church of Australia. Nec tamen consumebatur means literally, "And yet it was not consumed". It refers to the story of the burning bush told in Exodus 3.
