The Chapel was dedicated by Reginald (Halse), Archbishop of Brisbane, St Luke's Day, 18 October 1959. Additional Information St Luke's Warrior's Chapel (c1956), Herries & Ruthven Streets, holds the original maroon and gold banner of the 11th Light Horse. This was embroidered by Kathleen Best, sister of an officer in the 11th Light Horse which took part in the Gallipoli and Palestine campaigns. On 8 December 1991, 50 years after the 11th Light Horse occupied Borneo Barracks at Cabarlah, a plaque in honour of fallen comrades was unveiled. The banners of the 25th Battalion, Darling Downs Regiment, were laid up in November 1959, together with that of the 11th Light Horse. There are other window war memorials at St Luke's, and a crucifix which was found by an Australian soldier in the ruins of a Belgian cathedral during World War I.
