Stone memorial with metal plaque inserted in centre. Erected in commemoration of the siege of Tobruk 10 April 1941 to 7 December 1941. Dedicated to Allied servicemen, including 782 Australian soldiers who lost their lives during the siege, the first defeat of the German Land Forces in World War II. It was unveiled at the Mothers' Memorial Gardens in Toowoomba on 14 April 1996. Flag bearers were Mr Lachlan Gooch and Mr Roy Milne. Additional Information Rats of Tobruk Association has erected a number of other memorials around Queensland.
