It comprises a life-sized sandstone statue of an Australian Infantry soldier standing with head bowed and arms reversed on a standard type of pedestal used by Bruce Bros for war memorials at Dulacca (Qld) and at Amosfield (NSW). The pedestal is of sandstone on a rock-faced stepped base, and has a block of white sandstone bearing the cut and blackened names of 47 locals who served in WWI, including the 10 fallen whose names are recorded on the front face. About half of the families listed are represented by more than one member, two families by four members, indicating the impact of the war upon the small community. Additional Information This memorial has outstanding significance as the most intact soldier-type war memorial in Queensland by the local firm of Bruce Bros with this standardised type of pedestal; as a familiar landmark on a main road; and as an historical record of local participation and sacrifice in WWI.
