The memorial is set on a stepped base with a light concrete square slab underneath, surrounded by marble pavers. The original digger on the memorial was smashed and was replaced with a new digger in 2003. Additional Information The memorial was manufactured by F Williams and Co of Ipswich and was originally located at the intersection of Brisbane and Burnett Streets. The foundation plaque was laid on 3 November 1917 and the memorial was unveiled on 15 December 1917 by Mr H.B. Carter, Chairman of the Returned Soldiers Residential Club, Brisbane. The memorial was relocated to its current location in Baines Park c.1967. A replacement solider was manufactured and unveiled on 8 November 2003.
