This gothic style memorial in three panels is made of Serbian oak. The boards honour the men and women from the Wharf Street Congregational Church who served and in some cases died during the Great War 1914–1918. Dedicated in 1920, this memorial was originally the front of a "beautiful Soldiers' Memorial Communion Table", designed by architect Lange L Powell. The ornate wooden carving in the central panel depicts wine and grapevines intertwined with a symbolic Crown of Thorns. The central panel also displays an image of the original church. Relocated three times when the congregation moved before amalgamating with St Andrew's Uniting Church in 1981, the memorial is now housed within the Merrington Memorial Peace Chapel to recognise the sacrifice of the Wharf Street congregation. The Roll lists 58 names and indicates the fate of those who died or were wounded. 11 were killed in action or died, 1 missing, and 16 wounded. Additional Information Honour Boards designed by Mr. Lange L. Powell. The church in which the Roll of Honour was originally dedicated was situated on the corner of Adelaide and Wharf Streets, Brisbane. It was demolished in 1928.
