Sandstone plinth with laser etched polished black granite plaque. Additional Information This monument was unveiled on 15 August 2015, the 70th Anniversary of the Japanese surrender and the end of World War II, by Ian Lang, RAAF Leyburn Veteran and Patron of the Leyburn RSL, and dedicated by Army Chaplain Major David Snape, in the presence of the surviving veteran James Banks OAM MID and family members of other Leyburn veterans who have passed away or were too frail to journey to Leyburn.
