Ballarat Legacy Club Inc was founded in 1926, the third Legacy Club in Australia. Originally caring for the needs of children of deceased soldiers in the Ballarat district, this was later extended to include widows. The Club now covers an area bordered by Bacchus Marsh in the East to St Arnaud in the West; Daylesford to the North and Meredith to the South. Identifying a need for companionship, in 1961 Ballarat Legacy Club founded the first Laurel Club for the widows. Today Ballarat Legacy Inc maintains a membership of approximately 90 Legatees and assists almost 500 widows and dependents.
