This war memorial is a timber honour roll for the First World War. It lists the names of 14 men from the Park Street Methodist Sabbath School, in Merewether NSW, who served in the war. Each name is printed in gold and is accompanied by the date the man set sail. The inscribing was done by Mr Geo. Dowdall. The roll was unveiled at the church by Mrs Isaac Winn on 3 July 1916 in front of a large audience. The service included music, patriotic songs and speeches. A detailed account of the event was published in the Newcastle Morning Herald and Miners' Advocate on 7 July.
